Tortilla maker Mission Foods has expanded its presence in Van Nuys by taking an additional 51,000 square feet, according to commercial real estate brokerage NAI Capital. The company, a subsidiary of Gruma in Mexico City, is the largest tortilla manufacturer in the U.S. and signed a lease at 14400 Arminta St. for distribution space. The address is just one block away from Mission’s 200,000-square-foot processing plant, according to David Young, who along with Chad Gahr, both executive vice presidents with NAI, negotiated the lease on behalf of Mission Foods. The industrial building was built in 2007 with 37-foot ceiling height, a high-performance sprinkler system, eight truck-high dock loading doors and a large truck court. There is also 9,769 square feet of office space and 150 parking spaces. Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed. “Following an exhaustive search, it took more than a year to identify a building in the right location with all of the technical specifications that Mission Foods required,” Young said in a statement.
