Woodbury to Host 55th Student Fashion Show

Woodbury University’s annual student fashion show will return to the Millennium Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angeles May 4 for its 55th such event. This year’s show theme is “ArchiTexture: form/fabric/fashion.” Undergraduate designers will see their portfolios come to life on the runway for a crowd of fashion industry professionals, business leaders, and local media. “Our annual fashion show serves to enhance the learning experience of our fashion design students by placing their creations on the runway. … We’re consistently bowled over by the quality and vitality of their designs,” said Anna Leiker, chair of the fashion design department within Woodbury’s School of Media, Culture & Design, or MCD, in a statement. Students of the Burbank school will share billing with iconic fashion house Badgley Mishka, founded by Mark Badgley and James Mischka and hailed by Vogue as among the “Top 10 American Designers.” The duo will be in attendance to receive Woodbury’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Designs from Badgley Mishka will appear during the runway show. “We honor Badgley Mischka’s remarkable body of work and celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic American brand,” said MCD Dean Sue Vessella in a statement. “Their timeless and sophisticated style and integrity of their collections has pushed them to the forefront of fashion.” Guest check-in for the event will begin at 4 p.m. The runway show starts at 5 p.m., and the President’s Dinner, hosted by Woodbury President Dr. David Steele-Figueredo, starts at 7 p.m.
