Las Vegas Shooter a CSUN Graduate

Emerging details about the life of Stephen Paddock, the man who opened fire Sunday on a crowd at a Las Vegas concert before killing himself, reveal ties to the San Fernando Valley. Paddock graduated from California State University – Northridge in 1977 with a degree in business administration, the institution said in a statement Tuesday. CSUN learned of the connection late Monday evening and has since disclosed the information to Las Vegas investigators. “While no words can truly express the loss and sadness the nation feels today, the CSUN community offers its profound sympathies to those affected by the heinous violence that occurred in Las Vegas,” CSUN said in a statement. Paddock and his ex-wives lived in or owned property in North Hollywood and Panorama City between the 1970s and the early 2000s, the Los Angeles Times reported. The former accountant, who was described to media outlets by his brother as a “wealthy guy,” most recently resided in Reno, Nev. He frequently traveled to Las Vegas to gamble, reports said. Positioned on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas strip, Paddock is believed to have used a semi-automatic weapon to shoot down at a crowd of more than 20,000 people who had gathered to watch country music star Jason Aldean perform at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. At least 500 were injured and more than 50 killed in the attack, including multiple victims from greater Los Angeles. A school officer manager from Simi Valley and a teacher from Palmdale were among the dead, as well as a Valencia man who owned a concrete accessories manufacturing business in Murrieta.
