Bargain shopping Web site expands to San Fernando Valley

A shopping Web site is launching a San Fernando Valley webpage to feature deals on goods, services and cultural events in the area, the company announced. The Chicago-based company, which uses collective buying power to secure bargains for businesses and consumers, is expanding its Web site due to customer demand, according to a statement released by the company. The San Fernando Valley webpage is an expansion of the site’s Los Angeles webpage, which has about 300,000 subscribers. “The addition of Groupon San Fernando Valley to Groupon Los Angeles means better deals for more subscribers,” said Groupon Founder and CEO Andrew Mason. “With unbeatable deals even closer to home and more local features, Groupon continues to save people money on things they love to do.” The expansion is part of a plan by Groupon to implement regions in its largest cities nationwide throughout 2010, the statement said. The company offers deals in more than 140 cities across the world. During its first week covering the San Fernando Valley, the new webpage has included belly dancing, a children’s playground, Asian cuisine, an ice cream parlor and bowling, the statement said. Upcoming features include a skin clinic, a wine festival, yoga classes and an English restaurant.
