Whole Foods Market announced it will open a 44,000 square foot supermarket in Porter Ranch on May 22. The store is a relocation of the existing Whole Foods Market at 19340 Rinaldi St. The new location will be nearby at 20209 Rinaldi. The opening ceremony will include samples from local vendors, giveaways and a free baguette for the first 300 guests. In addition to a regular bakery, butchery and produce departments, the Porter Ranch market will feature an in-store Nekter Juice Bar offering freshly made smoothies, juices and coffee, as well as a yet-to-be unveiled bar and restaurant serving locally-sourced meals, seasonal California wines and beer. The new location will employ 160 full- and part-time employees. It is unclear whether workers at the existing Porter Ranch Whole Foods will migrate with it. The new store will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Whole Foods currently has 8 locations in the Valley area, including markets in Burbank, Glendale, Sherman Oaks, Thousand Oaks, Tarzana, Northridge and Woodland Hills.
