Sylmar-based Vallarta Supermarkets is investing in the online grocery shopping space through a new partnership with Stor.ai, an end-to-end digital commerce solution for grocers.
Vallarta will use Stor.ai’s ecommerce and picking platform to support their stores, several of which are in the Valley region, in deploying online shopping, delivery and fulfillment solutions.
“We have been searching extensively for an ecommerce provider capable of meeting customer expectations without eroding the profitability of our picking, fulfillment and delivery operations,” Steve Netherton, chief information officer of Vallarta Supermarkets, said in a statement.
The deal comes as part of a digital push by Vallarta, which recently engaged in a multi-store pilot with Badger Technologies, which produces autonomous robots that identify hazards and out-of-stock items.
The financial terms of the Stor.ai deal were not disclosed.
“Our partnership with Vallarta is a clear market endorsement of stor.ai’s unique proposition,” Charlie Ward Wright, president of Stor.ai, said in a statement. “Vallarta identified a need for advanced, customer-friendly ecommerce solutions that enable stores to maximize ecommerce profitability in an increasingly competitive digital marketplace, and we felt that our product offering suited Vallarta’s needs perfectly.”
