Mainland Poke Shop opened Friday at 252 S. Brand in Glendale, the first of five restaurants that will occupy Caruso Affiliated’s latest street-front retail project by the end of the year. Mainland Poke Shop offers built-to-order poke bowls made with fresh, sushi-grade fish. The eatery will celebrate its grand opening Sept. 6 with free poke bowls for the first 100 customers and a “buy one, get one” deal throughout the day. Mainland Poke’s Glendale location is the restaurant’s second at a Caruso Affiliated property, with the first on Third Street near downtown Los Angeles. A third will open in late fall at Waterside Marina Del Rey. The four other restaurants slated for 252 S. Brand include “roadside” burger joint Shake Shack; craft coffee purveyor Philz; egg-centric eatery Eggslut; and a farm-to-fork establishment called Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop.
