Chick-Fil-A Opens in Woodland Hills

Fast-food chicken chain Chick-Fil-A opened a new restaurant Thursday at 20101 Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills. The outlet sits at the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue, just off the 101 freeway, and features a multi-lane drive-through. It will employ about 120 full-time and part-time workers. The owner-operator is Dream Wright, who formerly oversaw eight Verizon retail stores in South Carolina. Her brother, Jermiah Cillpam, is also a Chick-Fil-A operator in the L.A. market.“I am fortunate to have been able to support my brother in his journey to become a Chick-fil-A operator, and I will use that experience to help me better serve the Woodland Hills community,” Wright said in a statement. In lieu of a grand opening event, Chick-Fil-A instead “will be surprising 100 local heroes making an impact in the Woodland Hills community,” according to a press release. It isn’t clear how that will take shape. The company will also donate $25,000 to an undisclosed local food bank in connection with the Chick-Fil-A Foundation’s partnership with nonprofit Feeding America. The chain donates to a food bank for every new restaurant it opens. The first Chick-fil-A in Los Angeles opened at Santa Monica Place in 1980. There are currently about 50 locations in the L.A. market. Of them, 14 are scattered throughout the San Fernando Valley, Antelope Valley and Ventura County. The most recent Valleyside openings include 8300 Topanga Canyon Blvd. in Canoga Park in January and 17660 Ventura Blvd. in Encino last November.
