Cheesecake Factory Inc. will expand into Canada later this year with a restaurant in Toronto, the Calabasas company announced. Canada’s first Cheesecake Factory is slated to open this fall in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the fourth-largest mall in the nation, according to commercial real estate firm Avison Young. The plaza historically has hosted the first Canadian outposts of numerous U.S. brands, including J. Crew Group Inc., Apple Inc. and Tesla Inc. The 10,400-square-foot Toronto restaurant will be the sixteenth international location of Cheesecake’s namesake eatery. The company owns and operates 208 establishments in the U.S. and Puerto Rico under its Cheesecake Factory, Grand Lux Cafe and RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen brands. Cheesecake (CAKE) shares rose 69 cents, or around 1 percent, on Thursday to close at $62.90 on the Nasdaq.
