Local fast-casual chain Carving Board Sandwiches has announced plans to develop franchise locations of its restaurants. The sandwich shop manages corporate-owned outposts in Burbank, West L.A., Hollywood and Tarzana, where it is headquartered. Three more are slated to launch in California in late 2017, according to a statement. While the Carving Board will debut its franchise business internationally – its first franchised location will open in Dubai later this spring – it will focus primarily on securing domestic partnerships in major U.S. cities to fuel its expansion, the company said. “Since our founding in 2012, we have built the infrastructure to grow through the franchise model,” Chief Executive David Adir said in a statement. “We’re confident that we’ll flourish in metropolitan cities.” The Carving Board said it is seeking entrepreneurs in populous cities like San Francisco and Dallas to franchise its concept, which it describes as a “bold” take on the traditional sub shop. For roughly $468,000 in average startup costs, restaurant franchisees can give customers a bite of creations such as a filet mignon sandwich and a “meatballwich” with a bun made out of spaghetti noodles.
