OPI to Relocate NoHo Plant

Beauty product company Coty Inc. confirmed Monday that it will relocate all manufacturing and distribution operations for its subsidiary OPI Products to North Carolina by the end of the year. The North Hollywood nail polish manufacturer was founded in 1981, and was acquired by New York-based Coty Inc. in late 2010. Coty will transfer operations to its largest U.S. manufacturing facility in Sanford, N.C. “Our ambitions for OPI’s sustainable growth and expansion require enhanced manufacturing facilities and our Sanford, N.C. plant is a best-in-class facility that will support OPI’s growth agenda,” said a Coty spokeswoman in an email to the Business Journal. Though the NoHo manufacturing plant will close, OPI’s headquarters will remain in North Hollywood and the commercial organization will not be impacted, according to a company spokeswoman. The relocation of the manufacturing plant will begin in June and should be complete by December. Coty will offer severance packages for impacted employees, and also will assist through outplacement and career services.
