Cherokee Global Brands Expands Market Presence to Czech Republic

Cherokee Global Brands will enter the Czech Republic this fall through one of the country’s large retailers, the company recently announced. The Sherman Oaks apparel and lifestyle brand operator entered a license agreement with Ahold Czech Republic, a division of Netherlands-based Ahold, to launch its Cherokee branded products at Ahold’s Albert stores, a retail and grocery chain with more than 300 outlets in the Czech Republic. The launch will include family lifestyle and back-to-school marketing campaigns led by both Ahold and Cherokee. The license agreement includes men, women and children’s clothes from the Cherokee line, in addition to footwear and other accessories. The products will launch at 80 Albert stores beginning this fall. “The Cherokee brand has had a long and marketable history through Central Europe,” said Howard Siegel, Cherokee chief operating officer, in a statement. “We are very excited to partner with Ahold and to build upon the existing awareness of the Cherokee brand in the Czech Republic.” Cherokee shares closed down 34 cents, or 2 percent, to $16.70 on the Nasdaq.
