Strategic Partners Inc. has entered an agreement with a Japanese apparel manufacturer to produce Cherokee brand medical uniforms for sale in Japan. The Chatsworth manufacturer of medical uniforms has licensing agreements to produce uniforms under the Cherokee and Dickie’s brands, two of the most popular in the market. It employs 450 people and makes more than 100,000 different products. Beginning Jan. 1, Folk Co. Ltd. will hold exclusive rights from Strategic Partners to design, manufacture and distribute Cherokee scrubs in the Japanese health care market. A new line of medical uniforms featuring colorful designs will be introduced in Japan in late January, Strategic Partners said in a press release. “Folk has a 114-year history in the Japanese uniform market and is known for their innovative fabric and product development,” Jay Yard, vice president of international sales at Strategic Partners, said in a prepared statement. “(The company’s) attention to detail and quality apparel make this a truly ideal partnership.” Cherokee brand medical uniforms are licensed by Cherokee Inc., based in Sherman Oaks. The stock of Cherokee rose 5 cents, or less than a percent, on Monday to close at $11.20 on the Nasdaq.
