A major affordable housing mixed-use project will go before Panorama City Neighborhood Council’s Land Use Committee this month. Per an Urbanize.LA report, the proposed development, dubbed Corazon del Valle, would bring 120 units to Panorama City. Slated for a site at 14545 Lanark St., Corazon del Valle comes courtesy of nonprofit developer Clifford Beers Housing. It would be constructed just south of a 13-story building at 8141 Van Nuys Blvd. that was recently turned into 192 apartments by developer Izek Shomof. Designed by Perkins + Will, the complex will consist of multiple buildings, spanning one to five stories in height and bisected by landscaped interior passageways. A public park will face Lanark Street. According to an exclusive negotiating agreement approved last month by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the proposed development would target larger families and will include 3,000 square feet for ground-floor retail. Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units reserved for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. The development would replace a Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services facility. The Clifford Beers project joins another major effort on Roscoe Boulevard, where a mixed-use development featuring apartments and retail space has been approved to replace a former Montgomery Ward store, and an expansion of the Panorama Mall.
