Burbank’s Insomniac Games Expands Presence

Burbank-based Insomniac Games will expand its headquarters by another 11,437 square feet at the Media Studios complex. The deal brings the video game developer’s office space to 53,094 square feet at 2255 N. Ontario St. The company, which already occupies the building’s top floor, plans to renovate and rebrand its fifth-floor space and build out its fourth-floor space with an internal, interconnecting staircase to link both floors before a 2020 move-in, according to CoStar Group. CBRE Group Inc.’s Todd Doney, Doug Marlow and Juliana Sampson represented owners Worthe Real Estate Group and Blackstone Group. Savills Senior Managing Director Matt Brainard represented Insomniac in lease negotiations. “Insomniac has been at this address for 17 years, and the lease extension and expansion enable the company to continue its legacy of success here,” Brainard said in a statement. “The expanded space accommodates the company’s growing workforce, embraces its welcoming and collaborative culture and represents its evolution from a startup to a mature and thriving video game developer.” Terms of Insomniac’s lease were not disclosed, but asking rents at Media Studios go for $3.85 per square foot per month, according to CoStar data. Insomniac Games, which has been around for a quarter century, is best known for the “Resistance” franchise and last year’s “Marvel’s Spider-Man” video game.
