An expanding Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant chain from Long Beach will set up its first Valley location in Sherman Oaks this summer.Jay Bird’s Chicken has announced that its third location will be at 15322 Ventura Blvd., with a scheduled opening in June.The 2,304 square-foot site, which was completed this year, is located along Ventura Boulevard by Dickens Street.The new restaurant may prove competition for Hot Motha Clucker and Boneyard Bistro, two existing Sherman Oaks restaurants specializing in this popular sub-genre of fried chicken.Nashville hot chicken has been trending in recent years in Los Angeles, led by Howlin’ Ray’s in downtown Los Angeles, which arrived as a food truck concept before opening in Chinatown in 2016. The aforementioned Sherman Oaks restaurants as well as Firebirds in Chatsworth and Blazin’ Hot Chicken in Montrose are among the market’s highest-ranked Nashville-style hot chicken spots, according to Trip Savvy.The original Jay Bird’s opened in Long Beach in May 2019. A second site opened in August in Huntington Beach.
