L’Oréal USA will house the regional logistics operation of its SalonCentrics subsidiary at the Tejon Ranch Commerce Center in Kern County. According to brokerage Colliers International, L’Oreal will occupy about half of the new 480,000-square-foot structure at 5335 Wheeler Ridge Road. SalonCentrics will relocate its operations, which are currently in Valencia. Colliers’ John DeGrinis, Patrick DuRoss and Jeff Abramson exclusively represent Tejon Ranch Commerce Center in lease transactions. Craig Peters of CBRE Group Inc. represented L’Oreal. “It made perfect sense for L’Oréal USA to move its professional salon distribution operation to Tejon Ranch and Kern County,” DeGrinis said in a statement. “This is the natural evolution and opening of a newer marketplace representing easier access to major transportation hubs and more affordability than other nearby markets that are older, denser, more expensive and have not one parcel like (this one) available.” In his statement, DeGrinis continued on to say that the large distribution center’s access to Interstate 5, location and affordability have made this particularly viable and attractive for L’Oréal, “especially in light of the fact that there is virtually no suitable product of this size remaining in the adjacent San Fernando Valley.” Tejon Ranch Co. is the master developer of Tejon Ranch Commerce Center, which includes distribution centers for Ikea, Famous Footwear, Dollar General and Caterpillar Inc. Tejon Ranch Co. and Majestic Realty co-developed the building L’Oreal will occupy. Shares of Tejon Ranch Co. (TRC) closed Tuesday up 42 cents, or 1.9 percent, to $22.16 on the New York Stock Exchange.
