Valley Contractor to Build Electric Car Manufacturing Plant

Electric vehicle manufacturer Faraday Future has selected San Fernando-based construction company Bernards as the general contractor to create its new, 1 million-square-foot factory in Hanford. The factory will be a turnkey facility strategically located between the largest electric vehicle markets in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles. “We are honored to be chosen,” said Bernards Vice President Falco DiGiallonardo in a statement. “EV is the future of mobility and we look forward to working with Faraday Future to have the factory set for production later this year.” Earlier this year, Faraday Future vacated the previous industrial building at the site and completed the planning phase, including interior and exterior design, proceeding to the next phase of production. Bernards is responsible for the new factory’s construction and the coordination of specialty equipment contractors and installers. Demolition of the existing factory began in March. Bernards is due to wrap up work on the manufacturing site in February, when Faraday Future will begin employing 1,300 employees, working a three-shift schedule, at the facility.
