Philanthropic nonprofit Children to Love is hosting a charity event next week to support children and orphans in the Ugandan town of Wakiso. Named Hearts-4-Mercy, the event is a benefit concert that will feature performances from local musician Jack Cassidy, singer Angelica Abrams and gospel musician Pastor Wilson Bugembe, who traveled from Uganda to perform. Proceeds will go to Mercy Child Care Ministry, a Christian NGO in Uganda. Mercy Child Care Ministry provides housing, education, medical services, loans and vocational training for children and families in Uganda’s Wakiso and Kampala communities. Children to Love International, in Bakersfield, is the U.S. nonprofit partner of Mercy Child Care. Hearts-4-Mercy will take place Sunday, June 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the California Community Church at 30125 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills.
