Valley Community Healthcare Gets Big Grant

Valley Community Healthcare has received a $300,000 grant from the W. M. Keck Foundation to hire new staff and improve patient care. Judith Rose, chief development officer at the North Hollywood-based network of community health centers, said the grant was the largest donation the nonprofit received last year. Valley Community Healthcare will use the money to hire two bilingual registered nurses who will act as case managers to better connect patients with doctors, medication and other care. The Keck Foundation is a Los Angeles philanthropy that focuses on science, engineering and health care. Valley Community Healthcare was established in 1970 and serves nearly 25,000 people in the San Fernando Valley regardless of their ability to pay.
