Rick Wentzel has been named the West Region Higher Education and Not-for-Profit practice leader for accounting firm Grant Thornton LLP, which has offices in Woodland Hills. Wentzel comes to the job with 22 years of public accounting experience, having worked at various not-for-profit organizations including higher education, foundations, social services and healthcare. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Wentzel was previously a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Higher Education and Healthcare Services Group in Los Angeles. “Rick is a tremendous addition to Grant Thornton’s national Not-for-Profit practice,” states Rich Simitian, managing partner of the firm’s Southern California practice, which consists of offices in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, San Diego and Woodland Hills. Wentzel received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and religion from Claremont McKenna College. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
