Longtime Valley leader Marty Cooper had not one thing to celebrate. Or even two. He brought together 65 friends, associates and relatives to acknowledge three milestones: he and his wife Barbara’s 60th wedding anniversary, his 80th birthday and for living in the same house for 50 years. Guests at the outdoor gathering on Oct. 8 at the Oaks at Lakeside in Encino included such Valley notables as Robert Rodine, Kathleen Sterling and Jessica Yasukochi. City Councilmember Paul Koretz read a proclamation honoring the Coopers. At the end of the celebration, the Coopers cut a cake decorated with a likeness of their wedding photo. … David Cohen, a commercial real estate broker who founded Cohen Co. in 2019, has joined the Studio City office of Sync Brokerage. He was previously affiliated with Keller Williams, where in 2019 he transacted $265 million in sales. … CNM, an IT advisory firm in Woodland Hills, has named three new partners: Amy Vuong, Dieter Wulff, and Greg Nakamura. “Amy, Dieter and Greg developed the two key competencies for success at the firm: technical skills and emotional intelligence,” CNM Managing Nathan Matthews said in a statement. “Each of these professionals has modeled the principles of servant leadership and applied those principles to develop themselves, our professionals, and serve our clients.” … Homes 4 Families, which builds homes for low-income veterans, regularly holds a fundraiser in which participants rappel from the top of the Hilton Universal City hotel. The nonprofit’s vice chair, Brad Rosenheim, president of land-use consultancy Rosenheim & Associates in Woodland Hills, was always nervous simply to go to the top of the 24-story landmark to thank the brave rappelers. But on Oct. 30, Rosenheim himself will go over the edge. “I have no desire to do this at all, except for the fact that somebody said that they will contribute $5,000 to Homes 4 Families if I did,” Rosenheim said. After he was challenged, Rosenheim sought additional donations from colleagues and clients – “from those who want to support me, or those who want to see me risk my life and maybe lose it,” he cracked. The overall goal is to raise $150,000 to help build 56 homes in Palmdale.
