An Unconventional Business Opening

Ace Hardware held a grand opening for its new location in Van Nuys on Feb. 14, but this wasn’t your standard ribbon cutting. Instead, it was a board cutting. Nancy Hoffman Vanyek, chief executive at the Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce, presided over the ceremony, which featured a chainsaw to slice through a piece of lumber adorned with the Ace logo. “In 30-plus years, it was my favorite grand opening,” she told the Business Journal in an email. “Ace has such a great company culture and you felt the excitement. … It was very fun how they did the board cutting.” Ace Hardware of Van Nuys is located at 5960 Sepulveda Blvd.
