Teledyne Flir announced Monday the launch of its ION M640X tactical quadcopter drone.
The subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc., the Thousand Oaks aerospace, marine and imaging products manufacturer, said the new drone will provide the U.S. military and other government customers with best-in-class capabilities for their missions.
The ION M640x unmanned aircraft weighs about 4 pounds, and is rated for operating in demanding environments, including rain and wind.
Thomas Rambo, senior director of Unmanned and Integrated Solutions at Teledyne Flir, said that the company’s engineering expertise and focus on defense and public safety markets means its customers are getting the most secure and capable unmanned aerial system.
“The ION M640x builds on our unique position as a domestic provider of unmanned systems and sensing technology and boasts high-resolution infrared imaging, smart object tracking, laser illumination and industry-leading support and service,” Rambo said in a statement.
Shares of Teledyne (TDY) closed Monday down 19 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $422.44 on the New York Stock Exchange, on a day when the Dow Jones closed down a fraction of a percent.
