Preview: Legacy on Wheels

Barris Kustom Industries, the car design shop that created the original batmobile and other famous vehicles, plans to move from its longtime location in North Hollywood to Ventura County.

There’s a lot of history in the shop on Riverside Drive in NoHo. In fact, the company no longer makes custom cars and its main business is the legacy of founder George Barris, who passed away in 2015.

In addition to the batmobile for the 1960s television series “Batman,” Barris also designed vehicles for the “Munsters,” the family truck in “Beverly Hillbillies” and the high-tech muscle car in “Knight Rider.”
