LemonMobile for Youth Market

Limoneira Co. has signed up as a promotional partner for Lemonade Day, a national youth entrepreneurship program that teaches kids how to launch a lemonade stand. The citrus producer in Santa Paula plans to convert a school bus into the LemonMobile, which will visit key markets. Inside, children and parents can learn about Lemonade Day and the health benefits of lemons. Said John Chamberlain, vice president of marketing, in a statement: “The Lemonade Day program teaches the value of hard work, owning a business and giving back to the community — ideals that could have come out of the mouths of our founders more than 125 years ago.” In conjunction with the partnership, Limoneira will develop lemonade recipes; encourage retailers to allow Lemonade Day stands inside or outside their stores; and fund prizes for the Lemonade Day’s National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year award. Limoneira has recruited Megan Roosevelt, an L.A.-based dietician and founder of the Healthy Grocery Girl website, as a spokeswoman and recipe author. The marketing campaign will showcase how “citrus and produce can play a role in helping to alleviate serious health issues as well as enhancing personal appearance and well-being,” according to the company. “As a global citrus supplier, Limoneira is a perfect partner for us,” Steven Gordon, Lemonade Day national president, said in a statement. Lemonade Day is scheduled for Aug. 20.
