A Glendale firm will bring its signature boutique housing to Lake Balboa. Originally dubbed Northridge 9, Sophie Court — to be erected on a single-acre parcel at 17210 Roscoe Blvd., near the Northridge border — will be the name of the latest contemporary housing development from RC Homes Inc. The Tri-City company intends to erect nine single-family dwellings in four- and five-bedroom models. According to the firm’s website, each floorplan spans up to 2,429 square feet and features high-end flooring, countertops and technology. A city staff report to the Area Planning Commission recommended passage of the project. San Diego-area studio Summa Architecture has designed the dwellings, which will replace a single-family home at the site. Each of these contemporary homes will include a two-car garage. Other features include tankless water heaters and drought-tolerant landscape. The firm’s single-family home project joins a handful of other recently announced developments for the Northridge area, including a five-story, 51-unit development near California State University — Northridge on Reseda Boulevard to be developed by Uzi Levy and designed by GA Engineering, Inc.; and 61 townhomes, also aimed for a Reseda Boulevard address, known as Mosaic, from Arizona-based Meritage Homes.
