Jafra Debuts Unisex Scent Called Nuud

Jafra Cosmetics International, a Westlake Village based cosmetic and skincare company, announced the launch of its new unisex fragrance, called Nuud, “for him, her and they.”

“This genderless type of fragrance is something that people are craving and (we’re targeting) a generation that doesn’t really care about labels,” Pascal Gaurin, senior perfumer, said in a statement. “They don’t really want something that’s masculine or feminine, they just want something that they feel good about. For a very long time, fragrance didn’t have a gender. Fragrance has a story, and a story doesn’t have a gender. This is a story of unity that I think people will embrace.”

Nuud will feature scents of sheer bergamot, dark vanilla bean and velvety woods, according to the company’s statement, and the unisex marketing is meant to remind wearers that, stripped of social constructs, all people are the same. The packaging will be fully recyclable and its carton made of 95 percent recycled paper.

“Fragrance is more than something you wear on your skin, it’s part of your sense of style,” Jafra’s Director of Worldwide Marketing for Fragrance Elsa Delgado said in a statement. “Designed for all genders, Nuud by Jafra combines elements of both masculine and feminine fragrances. When you apply it to your skin, it responds to your unique body chemistry to create a customized signature. It becomes an extension of the wearer – a truly unique fragrance for all.”
