Credit Union Becomes Big CSUN Booster

California State University – Northridge has renamed its athletics facility after a local credit union as part of a marketing partnership agreement.

Under the deal, the Matadome, home to CSUN’s men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams, will become the Premier America Credit Union Arena. The partnership also includes Premier America designated as the official credit union of CSUN, the exclusive credit union partner of CSUN athletics and the CSUN Alumni Association and the official affinity credit card provider for the alumni association, according to a release from the university.

The 10-year agreement between CSUN and Premier America in Chatsworth was approved March 23 by the university’s board of trustees.

CSUN President Erika Beck said she was delighted the school and credit union will work together to further the success of student-athletes.

“Premier America’s emphasis on people working together toward solutions and vested interest in collective success aligns well with CSUN’s approach toward the academic success of our students and their collective impact on our region, state and nation upon graduation,” Beck said in a statement.

Rudy Pereira, chief executive of Premier America, said the two organizations are a perfect match for each other.

“CSUN’s deep commitment to building a brighter and more equitable future for its students, their families and the community is aligned with our core values,” Pereira said in a statement. “Premier America was founded in 1957 and has grown into one of the largest credit unions in the county with a membership of 111,000 and assets totaling $3.3 billion last year.

In addition to the renaming of the athletics facility, Premier America Credit Union’s name will be displayed prominently on the court, and the credit union will sponsor games during basketball, volleyball and baseball seasons, according to the university’s release.

The partnership includes the opening of a campus credit union branch and the installation of ATM machines.
