ArcLight Cinemas and Pacific Theatres will not reopen their locations, according to a note on the website for both theater chains. The coronavirus pandemic was too much for the small theater chains, which kept the theaters closed for the past year. ArcLight Cinemas operated 11 locations nationwide, while Pacific operated six in the Los Angeles area.“This was not the outcome anyone wanted, but despite a huge effort that exhausted all potential options, the company does not have a viable way forward,” the note said.ArcLight operated its flagship theaters on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. It also has a location in Sherman Oaks at the Galleria. Pacific Theatres locations in the San Fernando Valley included Glendale, Sherman Oaks, Winnetka and Northridge. The website thanked the employees of both chains and “the guests and members of the film industry who have made going to the movies such a magical experience over the years. … It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you.”The two theater chains are owned by Decurion Corp. in Los Angeles. Attempts to reach a representative of the company were not successful.
