Aeroplex Group Partners said last month that it has completed a $16.8 million development project at Van Nuys Airport.Â
The new Bonseph VNY North facility at Signature Flight Support will be used exclusively by Sun Air Jets and complements that charter and aircraft management firm’s existing operations at the San Fernando Valley general aviation airfield.Â
The facility has two adjacent 31,000-square-foot hangars each with 8,400 square feet of attached offices, shops, lounges and conference rooms; 77,900 square feet of new asphalt ramp area; and 20,300 square feet of new asphalt parking lot including landscaped areas, new security fencing and gates. The building also has a 544-kilowatt rooftop solar system with 1,280 solar panels.
Curt Castagna, chief executive of Aeroplex Group, said the project not only serves the regional economy and creates high-paying jobs but also improves air quality by meeting California’s green building standards.
“Despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our project team adopted protocols to move this project forward and make a meaningful contribution to Los Angeles’ economic recovery efforts,” Castagna said in a statement.Â
The hangar project was completed in 20 months, and its construction supported about 300 trade jobs and created about 50 new high-paying technical jobs.
