Warner Bros. Consumer Products inked a deal with Mattel, Inc. to develop product lines for next summer’s anticipated blockbusters “The Dark Knight” and “Speed Racer.” Mattel, the world’s leading toy manufacturer, will create a line of action figures, vehicles, remote control vehicles, handheld electronics, games and puzzles. Mattel has a strong track record of bringing great products and great stories together for a winning combination in the toy aisle, said Warner Bros. Consumer Products President Brad Globe. “With these deals, we know that two of our most important tent pole films for 2008 will be brought to life through products created by the most creative toy designers in the world, Globe said. “Speed Racer” products hit stores in March with the film scheduled for release in May. Products based on “The Dark Knight” the sequel to “Batman Begins” are expected to begin arriving at retailers beginning in early June 2008. The film is scheduled for release in July 2008.
