United Adjusts Palmdale Flight Schedule

United Airlines adjusted its daily schedule of flights from LA/Palmdale Regional Airport so passengers can more easily make connecting flights in San Francisco. Starting Sept. 5, the first flight out of Palmdale leaves at 6 a.m., with a second flight following at 11:47 a.m. Flights to Palmdale from San Francisco leave at 10:03 a.m., and 7:30 p.m. The changes were made in response to feedback from travelers, travel agents and companies in the Antelope Valley, said Mark Thorpe, director of the Los Angeles World Airports Air Service Development Division. United began the Palmdale service in June. A $900,000 federal grant and funding from LAWA, the city of Palmdale and Los Angeles County guarantees monthly revenues for United if the airline falls short of projections. The airline, in turn, has made an 18-month commitment to stay at the airport.
