Passengers Evacuated After Security Breach

Several hundred passengers had to be re-screened at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank Tuesday morning after a passenger entered the terminal without being properly screened. The breach occurred at about 8:10 a.m. and resulted in an immediate evacuation, said airport spokesman Victor Gill. The airlines announced they would hold planes to allow the passengers to make their scheduled flights, Gill said. The re-screening process began at about 8:35 a.m. and was finished within an hour, Gill said, adding, “The speed of the turnaround was quick.” The passenger who caused the evacuation was interviewed by authorities and it was determined they had inadvertently made it into the terminal, Gill said.
