GLENDALE , Workers under Parking Concepts Inc. could soon be represented by a local union, who said Monday that employees stand to receive fairer wages, better health insurance benefits and more vacation time. The deal has been in the works for at least three months and hinges on the outcome of a possible management transition from Parking Concepts, which runs four city-owned parking garages throughout Glendale, to Modern Parking Inc., said Teamster Local 911 Vice President Jos & #233; Monjaras. That changeover could come as early as September, after city officials and representatives from Modern Parking iron out the details of their $4.74-million bid to run the Exchange, Civic Center, Marketplace and Orange Street parking structures, Public Works Director Steve Zurn said.
