North Hills-based toy manufacturer MGA Entertainment Inc., has filed a multi-count federal lawsuit against Mattel, Inc. in the Central District of California. In what MGA calls “A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words” lawsuit against the famed maker of “Barbie,” MGA alleged that Mattel has engaged in acts of unfair competition and intellectual property infringement intended to damage MGA’ market share, confuse customers and trade on MGA’s goodwill. “MGA is committed to taking all steps necessary to protect the value of BRATZ and its other intellectual property and, through its complaint, seeks significant damages from Mattel,” Isaac Larian, MGA’s CEO said in a prepared statement. MGA has declined to speak further on the matter. Its legal team is comprised of Dale Cendali from O’ Melveny & Myers and Patricia Glaser of Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Glaser, Weil and Shapiro LLP.
