Strong holiday sales of its video games moved THQ Inc. to update its third quarter net sales by $50 million, the company announced Thursday. The Agoura Hills-based company expects fiscal third quarter net sales to hit $475 million up from the previous guidance in the range of $400 to $425 million. The third quarter ended Dec. 31. The company has better than expected sales of franchise games “WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007,” “Disney/Pixar Cars,” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” said President and CEO Brian Farrell, in a statement. “This performance combined with our successful original property launches exclusively for next-generation systems have positioned THQ to achieve the significant milestone of $1 billion in sales for fiscal 2007,” Farrell said. The company’s previous guidance of net sales for fiscal 2007, which ends March 31, was in the range of $925 to $975 million.
