Gloria Pollack was chosen the winner of the 49th Annual Fernando Award Friday night recognizing volunteerism in the Valley. Pollack, who was chosen at a dinner attended by about 400 people, was one of five finalists for the top award given yearly by the Fernando Award Foundation. Pollack volunteers in a variety of organizations across the Valley including serving as secretary of the board of ONEgeneration and boards at Pierce College and West Hills Hospital. She has also served numerous chambers of commerce as an active board member including the Encino Chamber of Commerce. Pollack has also served on the boards of the Child Development Institute, Walk of Hearts, Mad About Rising Crime and Pacific Lodge Boys Home. She has also volunteered with the Valley Cultural Center, San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, Meals on Wheels, VICA, Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley and Girl Scouts. The other finalists for the Fernando Award were: Jill Banks Barad, Herman Berman, Mel Kohn and Pauline Tallent.
