Glendale Adventist Certified As Primary Stroke Center

Glendale Adventist Medical Center has earned the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for Advanced Primary Stroke Centers. The medical center earned this distinction after the Joint Commission conducted an on-site review on March 17. It now joins UCLA as the second Primary Stroke Center in Los Angeles County “Glendale Adventist Medical Center demonstrated that its stroke care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients,” says Jean E. Range, executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, Joint Commission. The hospital voluntarily pursued the certification to enhance the safety and quality of stroke care it provides, according to Cynthia Cabatan-Awang, director of the hospital’s Neuroscience Institute. Its goal is to diagnose and treat persons exhibiting stroke symptoms within an hour to two hours of arrival.
