Dole salad products are safe to eat and are not subject to a recall, the Dole Food Company Inc. announced Monday. Responding to Internet stories of a recall the Westlake Village-based company is reassuring consumers that Dole salads are safe to eat and produced in state-of-the-art facilities with a priority on product safety. Stories of an incident that took place a year ago may be behind the current stories of a recall, Dole spokesman Marty Ordman said in a statement. “Unfortunately, old news and inaccurate information that linger on the Internet for years can be mistaken for current news and make their way into today’s TV news and newspapers,” Ordman said. “Dole is proud of both our products and our commitment to consumer safety.” Consumers purchase more than 2 million bags of Dole Salad every day in the United States. Dole salads are triple-washed and packaged in bags specially designed to keep the product safe and fresh, the company said.
