Attractions based on “The Little Mermaid” and “Cars” will be part of a multi-million dollar expansion at Disney’s California Adventure, The Walt Disney Co. announced. The expansion plan reflects the company’s commitment to a bright future of the Disneyland Resort and making Anaheim a world-class tourist destination, said Disney President and CEO Robert Iger. A new plaza area immerses visitors in the world that inspired Walt Disney during his early years as an animator. The new, interactive Walt Disney Story attraction sets the stage for the unfolding story of Disney that will permeate the park. Plans also call for a new “Little Mermaid” attraction, a nighttime spectacular with a viewing area for 9,000, and a 12-acre Cars Land with three new attractions. “The creative evolution of Disney’s California Adventure will connect guest’s to Walt’s own California adventure and reflect the place he found when he first arrived with a suitcase in his hand and a head full of dreams,” said Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo.
