The Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $14 million contract late Wednesday for a massive dredging project at the Port of Hueneme to remove decades of sediment that has limited the use of wharves. The Navy, Corps of Engineers and Oxnard Harbor District will share the cost of the work, which could start by November and take a year to complete. Mason Construction Corp, which is currently dredging Channel Islands Harbor, will do the work.
