Burbank Business Community to Support Blood Drive Patients in hospitals throughout the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys will benefit from what is gearing up to be the largest blood drive in Burbank. The Bob Hope Airport’s 13th annual campaign will rally the local business community including the Burbank Airport Marriott, Yahoo!, local airlines and entertainment companies within the Media Studios North campus, in support of a blood drive that will take place Wednesday July 29. The effort will benefit Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and Providence Tarzana Medical Center. This effort will be especially significant, as California experiences blood shortage every year during the summer months when fewer people donate during the vacation period. Studies show that someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds, but in Southern California only three percent of eligible donors donate blood. The blood drive will take place in the Bob Hope Airport’s Skyroom, where participants will have views of airplanes taking off and landing on the runway. All those who participate will be entered into drawings for roundtrip airline tickets and hotel stays, courtesy of JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and the Burbank Airport Marriott. Other prizes in the drawing include a three-day weekend car rental from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, two $200 auto details from VSP Burbank Airport Parking, and gift baskets from The Paradise Shops at the Airport. Employees from Yahoo!, Technicolor and many other businesses in the airport business community will be shuttled throughout the day between the Media Studios North Campus located on Ontario Street and Bob Hope Airport. The blood drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
