Bob Hertzberg, former Assembly Speaker and third place finisher in last month’s mayoral primary election, announced his support for Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa’s mayoral bid this morning. Hertzberg said he decided to endorse his former Assembly colleague because of Villaraigosa’s willingness to attack Los Angeles’ major problems and get important things done in the city. Villaraigosa also appeared with County Supervisor Gloria Moline to talk about plans to improve the city’s biotech industries. He proposed leading efforts in stem cell research with local universities and researchers, creating new bio-med industrial park with the county and attracting biotech companies through business teams.
