AeroVironment in Hiring Mode

AeroVironment Inc. is hiring employees for its Simi Valley facility that develops and makes unmanned aircraft used in war zones. All told, the Monrovia-based company is hiring 100 employees. A job fair at its corporate headquarters on Feb. 12 attracted several hundred people for 30 positions working on electric vehicle charging and test systems. The company was optimistic of filling the positions considering that professionals with the right qualifications have been let go by other firms. “We have a culture that is unique and offers a great opportunity to exercise skills and abilities,” said Marketing Strategy Director Steve Gitlin. AeroVironment recently received a $16.8 million contract from the U.S. Army for 50 new Raven unmanned aircraft equipped with a digital data link that increases communication abilities. The company is hiring because the areas it is focused on and its products are relevant to what is going on in the world today, Gitlin said.
