Regional Nonprofits for Developmentally Disabled Merge

Developmental disability nonprofit AbilityFirst this week announced it has completed a merger with fellow Pasadena nonprofit FVO Solutions Inc.AbilityFirst, which has a location in Glendale, will now offer expanded support services to more than 2,000 people in the Greater Los Angeles market. The merged company will operate under the AbilityFirst name.“Through our enhanced programs we offer people with developmental disabilities employment preparation, training and experience needed to lead full productive lives,” Lori Gangemi, chief executive of AbilityFirst, said in a statement. “After thoughtful discussion and due diligence, we celebrate a major milestone having merged with FVO Solutions.”ExploreAbility, DiscoverAbility and PossAbility are three new programs offered as a result of the merger. The first addition is a licensed adult day care program; the second provides a way for participants to set goals and gain more independence. PossAbility will focus on helping participants find the right job.AbilityFirst currently has 13 locations in Southern California, including Long Beach, Inglewood and Los Angeles.
