More than 1.2 million customers of Time Warner across the country have been plagued with Internet and digital phone outages. “The Internet outage originally began (Dec. 8) at 10:30 p.m. and lasted for one-and-a-half to two hours,” said a spokesperson. “Just after midnight the system was back up and running and then problems began aground around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday.” The cause of the problem has not yet been identified although a server malfunction is one potential culprit. As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, many customers are still experiencing persistent connection issues. Customers in Sherman Oaks, Chatsworth and Lake Balboa all report varying levels of difficulty with internet connectivity. Those affected are being urged not to reboot or disconnect their modems which is usually the first thing clients are advised to do when a problem occurs. According to a spokesperson, those customers who rebooted or powered down their modems during the initial outage are experiencing ongoing difficulties.
