Sports Academy Moves into Esports

Sports Academy announced Tuesday the opening of Sandbox Esports, a training facility for competitive video gaming. The Thousand Oaks athletic development facility opened last September to provide specialized programs with coaches, nutritionists and sports psychologists. The programs are designed to prepare competitive athletes for college and beyond. The new Sandbox Esports will combine physical training and cognitive development to help gamers improve their performance. “This first of its kind esports facility and training program allows esports competitors of all levels to train alongside the NBA, NFL and Olympic athletes that train at our complex.” Sports Academy Chief Executive Chad Faulkner said in a statement. “We look forward to helping esports athletes take their game to the next level.” Two prominent esport franchises, Counter Logic Gaming and FlyQuest, have already trained at Sandbox’s Professional Team Boot Camp. Sandbox will also offer camps for gamers of all ages and skill levels.
