Cinedigm Corp. has signed a partnership to launch two new ad-supported streaming channels with media company SPI International. Financial terms of the deal between the Sherman Oaks entertainment content distributor and SPI, in New York, were not disclosed. The channels Gametoon and FashionBox HD will be available to viewers as free ad-supported linear channels, as ad-based video on demand and as a la carte apps across Cinedigm’s footprint of more than 300 million connected televisions, set-top boxes and mobile and handheld devices. FashionBox will have content devoted to the fashion-focused lifestyle while Gametoon will air programming geared towards gaming and esports enthusiasts. Erick Opeka, president of Cinedigm Digital Networks said that the addition of the two channels to Cinedigm’s offerings will reach two key demographics within its growing portfolio of digital networks. “We look forward to building upon the success that these properties have achieved, as we continue our commitment to delivering high-quality ad-supported programming to viewers in North America and around the world,” Opeka said in a statement. The partnership announcement was made Thursday. On Friday, shares of Cinedigm (CIDM) closed down 20 cents, or just more than 8 percent, to $2.24 on the Nasdaq, on a day when that market closed up 1 percent.
