Danny Trejo, star of the “Machete” movies as well as “Desperado” and “Con Air,” is also a restaurant owner. He recently opened Trejo’s Cantina at 21550 Oxnard St. in Woodland Hills. He sat down with the Business Journal to discuss his dual career as actor and business owner. Question: How did you get into the restaurant business? Answer: After my parents passed away, I was doing a movie called “Bad Ass” with a producer named Ash (Shah), and he saw that I was a foodie. When I did “Bad Ass 3” with Danny Glover, Ash came to me with a business plan for a restaurant. Being a very smart man, I gave the plan to my agent Gloria and my secretary Mary – because every smart man has at least two women behind him. They both agreed. They said, “You can’t go wrong. This is the first business plan that somebody gave you where they’re not asking for $500,000 upfront.” Read the full story in the April 16 issue of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
